Role Overview
The role focuses on shop-floor connectivity, industrial automation, data integration, and successful MES implementation, ensuring reliable communication between plant equipment, control systems, and enterprise applications.
Must-Have Technical and Functional Skills
Good understanding of Operational Technology (OT) environments in manufacturing plants.
Hands-on experience with:
OPC UA / OPC DA
PLC integration
SCADA systems
Historian systems
Industrial automation networks
Unified Namespace (UNS)
Knowledge of ISA-95, ISA-88, and MESA standards.
Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, including:
Production
Quality
Performance and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
Material tracking and genealogy
Electronic Batch Records (EBR)
Ability to troubleshoot OT connectivity issues between PLC, SCADA, OPC, and MES systems.
Experience across the MES implementation lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, deployment, and hypercare.
Roles and Responsibilities
MES-OT Integration
Lead MES-OT integration activities involving PLCs, SCADA systems, historians, and plant equipment.
Support the development of interfaces between MES, SAP, UNS, and other enterprise systems.
Drive OT data enablement from shop-floor systems through to MES platforms.
Configure and validate OPC UA connectivity and tag mapping.
Technical Support and Implementation
Work closely with plant automation, IT, and OT teams to resolve integration issues.
Support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and go-live activities.
Ensure successful deployment and commissioning of MES solutions.
Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Project Governance
Coordinate with factory Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), OT engineers, automation vendors, and business users.
Participate in requirements workshops, design reviews, and project governance meetings.
Prepare technical documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), interface designs, and deployment guides.
