Role Overview

Our client is seeking a high-impact Senior Manager to strengthen the quality, consistency, and technical excellence of the Client Accounting function in Mauritius at a critical stage of its evolution.


This is not a traditional operational management role. While the position will provide oversight of client accounting delivery, its primary purpose is to act as the firm's Financial Reporting Quality Surveyor, ensuring that accounting outputs are technically accurate, consistent, audit-ready, and aligned with applicable accounting, tax, and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting Quality Assurance & Quality Surveyor Responsibilities

• Perform detailed reviews of financial statements, management accounts, supporting schedules, and working papers before finalisation.
• Assess the quality, consistency, completeness, and technical accuracy of accounting deliverables.
• Challenge accounting treatments, disclosures, assumptions, and judgements where appropriate.
• Review compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Establish and maintain a formal financial reporting quality assurance framework.
• Develop quality standards, review methodologies, reporting benchmarks, and quality scorecards.
• Conduct periodic file reviews and quality inspections across client portfolios.
• Perform root cause analysis on reporting deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
• Drive reduction of review points, errors, rework, and post-issuance corrections.
• Drive standardisation of financial statements, disclosures, templates, and working papers.

Technical Accounting & Regulatory Oversight

• Monitor developments in IFRS, accounting standards, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
• Assess the impact of technical developments on client structures and reporting obligations.
• Provide technical guidance on complex accounting matters, including trusts, fiduciary structures, consolidations, and multi-jurisdictional arrangements.
• Act as an escalation point for technical accounting matters.
• Prepare technical guidance papers, accounting policies, and recommendations.

Client Accounting Oversight & Delivery Standards

• Provide oversight of client accounting delivery to ensure quality and timeliness of outputs.
• Monitor service delivery performance, deadlines, and reporting obligations.
• Strengthen review procedures and quality controls throughout the reporting lifecycle.
• Support the resolution of complex accounting and reporting matters.

Process Improvement & Standardisation

• Develop standard templates, guidance documents, and review procedures.
• Improve consistency across teams and client portfolios.
• Enhance reporting processes, documentation standards, and working paper quality.
• Support implementation of technology and automation solutions.

Team Development & Quality Culture

• Build a culture of quality, professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Deliver training on accounting standards, tax developments, and reporting best practices.
• Strengthen technical capabilities and review skills across the accounting function.
• Promote a right-first-time approach to financial reporting.

Candidate Profile

• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
• Experience within fiduciary, trust, corporate services, or multi-entity accounting environments.
• Strong financial statement review and quality assurance experience.
• Excellent analytical, review, and stakeholder management skills.
• Highly organized, disciplined, and results-oriented.
