Our team is passionate about excellence and we are looking for a dynamic Maintenance Manager to join us in driving our operations forward.

Position Overview
Reporting directly to the General Manager and serving as a key member of the Management Team, the Maintenance Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of RDH’s maintenance function. This role is responsible for leading the Workshop Supervisor, Field Service Supervisor, and Procurement Supervisor, ensuring the effective management of the company's fleet, assets, procurement activities, and parts inventory.

The Maintenance Manager is accountable for the maintenance and reliability of more than 300 assets across the business, while also overseeing the operation of the central parts warehouse, multiple project site stores, and the procurement of materials and equipment critical to supporting project delivery.

Based at our Geraldton Workshop, this position offers the benefit of being home every night. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department, ensuring machinery, equipment, and tools are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance. Working closely with Project Managers and Site Supervisors, you will provide responsive maintenance support to both current and future projects.

This is a highly administrative leadership role requiring strong computer literacy, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to quickly learn and utilise new systems and technologies.

The successful applicant will coordinate scheduled servicing programs, manage preventative and corrective maintenance, and oversee repairs across a diverse fleet of heavy earthmoving equipment, road trains, trucks, trailers, and light vehicles. You will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining efficient inventory management systems to support a fully equipped and well-controlled parts operation.

By driving safe, efficient, and compliant workshop operations, while fostering a high-performing maintenance team, the Maintenance Manager plays a pivotal role in maximising fleet availability and contributing to the successful delivery of RDH’s civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Operations

• Conduct all business activities in accordance with RDH's core values of Honesty, Respect, and Integrity.
• Lead and manage all workshop operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and productive delivery of maintenance and repair activities.
• Supervise and provide leadership to workshop personnel, including tradespeople, technicians, apprentices, field service personnel, and subcontractors.
• Oversee the Stores Department, providing leadership, guidance, and support to the Procurement Supervisor, Storepersons, and Stores Administrator.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture by providing coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
• Monitor workshop productivity and operational performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Promote and maintain a safe workplace by ensuring compliance with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Identify, report, and manage workplace hazards to minimise risks to employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Ensure all workshop activities are completed to the required quality standards and comply with applicable legislation, engineering standards, specifications, and approved designs.
• Implement and maintain quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure all maintained assets meet operational and regulatory requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the HSE team to develop, implement, and continuously improve workshop procedures, safety systems, and risk management practices.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding RDH's commercial information, operational processes, and business activities.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of RDH's Integrated Management System (IMS) and business processes through feedback and recommendations.

Asset & Fleet Management

• Manage the utilisation, maintenance, and lifecycle of workshop plant, equipment, and mobile assets to maximise reliability and operational availability.
• Monitor equipment operating costs, including hourly running costs, and ensure maintenance and repairs are completed efficiently and within required timeframes.
• Evaluate asset performance through analysis of reliability, operational efficiency, maintenance history, risk, and failure trends.
• Develop and implement preventative and planned maintenance programs that optimise asset performance while controlling maintenance expenditure.
• Identify asset requirements and provide data-driven recommendations that maximise value to the business.
• Apply industry best practice asset management principles to improve asset performance and lifecycle outcomes.
• Manage the annual capital repair and maintenance (R&M) program, ensuring delivery within approved budgets and schedules.
• Collaborate with Finance on matters relating to asset accounting, procurement, capital expenditure, and asset reporting.
• Support the delivery of projects across other RDH business units as required.

  
Planning, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to maintenance activities, asset performance, inventory, inspections, and safety documentation.
• Prepare and present operational, maintenance, and performance reports to senior management.
• Analyse operational performance and recommend initiatives that improve productivity, reliability, cost efficiency, and workshop performance.
• Ensure workshop resources, materials, and equipment are effectively planned and utilised to meet operational requirements and project deadlines.

  
The successful applicant will possess

• Relevant Trade Certificate/s - Engineering Tradesperson; (Automotive) Heavy Vehicle Road Transport, Mobile Plant Technology (or similar)
• Demonstrated experience in a Workshop Supervisor or similar leadership role within a heavy vehicle, mining, construction, or industrial environment.
• Extensive experience maintaining heavy vehicles, mobile plant, and construction equipment.
• Sound understanding of asset management principles and preventative maintenance strategies.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
• Strong commercial awareness with a focus on cost control, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the business.
• Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and safe work practices within a mechanical workshop environment.
• Well-developed computer skills with the ability to quickly learn and effectively utilise new software systems.
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening.
