The Role:

We're looking for a proactive, self-driven Contract IT Project Manager to join our global consulting client on a high-impact engagement with a major New Zealand telco.

This is a delivery-focused PM role. You'll be expected to own your workstreams, meet deadlines, and manage budgets, including the not-so-glamorous admin tasks. This is a "roll your sleeves up and get it done" type of role.

While the work is embedded in a larger program, and there may be opportunities for strategic input, delivery is the core priority.

You'll be working closely with senior stakeholders to drive key project streams, ensuring outcomes are met to high standards.

What We’re Looking For:

• A technically minded Project Manager –Confident in translating between business and technical teams.
• Vendor-side experience – comfortable juggling multiple stakeholders and priorities.
• Telco experience is a very strong advantage; you understand the landscape and can hit the ground running.
• An organised self-starter – you manage risks, timelines, and budgets.
• Someone who works autonomously, escalates when appropriate, and takes full ownership of outcomes.
• A forward-thinker who proactively adds value, not just someone who ticks boxes.

 Responsibilities:

• Lead Telco projects from initiation through to delivery.
• Define project requirements and deliverables with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, and schedules.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Foster strong stakeholder and vendor relationships.
• Provide leadership to project teams.
• Conduct post-project reviews for continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Proven experience managing technical and Telco-related projects.
• Exposure to cloud technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, OpenShift, Containers) is advantageous.
• Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification preferred.
