Our client is seeking a Staff Reliability Engineer to join their team! In this role, you’ll lead the charge in maintaining the reliability, scalability, and performance of their platform. You’ll design systems to ensure high availability, optimise their infrastructure for growing demand, and automate processes to maintain a resilient service. Your work will help ensure users have uninterrupted access, and you’ll collaborate closely with our product and development teams to make reliability a foundational aspect of our platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure Platform Reliability: Drive initiatives to enhance the reliability and availability of the platform, providing users with a seamless experience.
• Performance Monitoring & Optimisation: Continuously improve platform performance to scale efficiently and stay responsive as our user base grows.
• Incident Detection & Response: Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to identify and resolve issues swiftly, minimising downtime during critical moments.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, development, and operations teams to embed reliability into the product lifecycle, from design through deployment.
• Automation & Scalability: Automate manual processes and enhance system scalability to reduce human intervention and support stable performance under high demand.
• Leadership & Mentoring: Guide junior engineers in reliability best practices, fostering a culture of reliability across our engineering teams.
• Post-Incident Analysis: Conduct root cause analyses for incidents and outages, leading initiatives to prevent recurrences and strengthen system resilience.

• 8+ years of experience in site reliability engineering for SaaS or digital products.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Strong skills in automating workflows using Typescript, Node, or similar languages to improve efficiency and resilience.
• Experience with monitoring tools to establish effective observability and alerting systems.
• Proven track record in leading incident response, managing critical outages, and implementing long-term solutions.
