The Opportunity
Our client is one of Australia's most recognised global product houses, operating at scale across multiple international markets. Their data engineering team sits at the core of the business, building and maintaining the platform that powers every product decision, every customer interaction, and every commercial outcome the organisation makes.
You'll be joining as the most senior data engineering voice in the Melbourne team. This isn't a role where you're handed a backlog and told to ship tickets. You'll be shaping the technical direction of the platform, mentoring the engineers around you, and working directly with senior stakeholders to translate business problems into scalable data solutions.
AI is central to how this team operates day-to-day, not something on the roadmap.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading and evolving a modern data platform built on BigQuery, Snowflake, Airflow, and dbt at scale and in production. Driving architectural decisions that span the full data lifecycle including ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and delivery. Mentoring and developing engineers across a distributed team with a genuine focus on raising the standard of the people around you. Building and operationalising AI and ML pipelines hands-on, not from the sidelines. Partnering directly with senior business stakeholders to translate commercial requirements into technical solutions. Contributing to company-wide data strategy through the internal Tech Lead Forum.
