Change Communications Advisor
Centacare | Transformation Team | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Hybrid Working
Great change doesn't start with a new system. It starts with helping people understand why it matters.
At Centacare, we're on a journey of transformation, introducing new technologies, improving the way we work and finding better ways to support our people and the communities we serve.
But even the best technology or the most carefully planned project can fall short if people aren't informed, engaged and confident about what's changing.
That's where you come in.
We're looking for a talented Change Communications Advisor who can turn complex information into clear, engaging and genuinely useful communications that help people navigate change.
This is a newly created, 12-month opportunity for someone who loves writing, enjoys working with people and understands that successful communication isn't just about sharing information. It's about creating understanding, building confidence and helping people feel part of the journey.
About us
Centacare is a purpose-led, not-for-profit organisation committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children, young people, individuals and families across Queensland.
Our people work across a diverse range of services, providing care, support and practical assistance to those who need it.
As our organisation continues to evolve, we're investing in improving our systems, processes and ways of working, making it easier for our teams to do what they do best: support the people and communities who rely on us.
And we know that bringing our people along on that journey is just as important as the changes themselves.
The opportunity
Working within our Transformation Team, you'll play an important role in helping our people understand, embrace and successfully navigate organisational change.
You'll work alongside project managers, senior leaders and teams across the organisation, developing and delivering internal communications that make change easier to understand and more meaningful for everyone involved.
This isn't a role where you'll simply be asked to send out announcements or update the intranet.
We want someone who takes the time to understand what's changing, why it's happening and how it will affect different people across the organisation.
Someone who can turn that understanding into thoughtful, practical communications that people actually want to read.
What you'll be doing:
- Developing and delivering internal communication plans to support organisational transformation, new systems, technology implementations and process improvements.
- Working closely with project managers and stakeholders to understand upcoming changes and translate them into clear, engaging messages.
- Creating a variety of communications, including staff updates, announcements, FAQs, presentations, project communications and leadership briefings.
- Writing, editing and maintaining content across internal communication channels, including SharePoint.
- Supporting senior and executive leaders with communications that help their teams understand and respond to change.
- Tailoring communications for different audiences, recognising that frontline employees, support teams and senior leaders may have very different information needs.
- Helping build awareness, understanding and engagement throughout change initiatives.
- Gathering feedback and adjusting communications to ensure messages are clear, relevant and reaching the right people.
- Contributing ideas to improve the way we communicate and engage with our people.
What we're looking for We're looking for someone who is a genuinely strong communicator, not just someone who knows the theory of change management.
You might currently be working as an Internal Communications Specialist, Communications Advisor, Change Communications Coordinator or in a broader marketing and communications role with a strong internal communications focus.
You may even come from a journalism background, where you've developed the ability to find the story, ask the right questions and communicate complex information in a way people can easily understand.
Ideally, you'll bring: - Experience developing and delivering internal communications, particularly in environments experiencing organisational or operational change.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make complex or technical information simple, clear and engaging.
- Experience creating communication plans and delivering communications across multiple channels.
- A working knowledge of SharePoint, including the ability to create, edit and manage content.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work with everyone from frontline employees to executive leadership.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines and changing priorities.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and a genuine interest in understanding how changes affect people.
- A relevant qualification in communications, marketing, journalism or a related discipline.
It would also be great if you have: - Experience supporting technology implementations, system changes or business transformation projects.
- Project management experience or an understanding of project delivery.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Forms.
- Experience working in a not-for-profit, community services or similarly purpose-led environment.
But beyond the experience and qualifications, we're particularly interested in how you communicate.
Can you take a complicated project update and turn it into something people will actually understand? Can you ask thoughtful questions, build trust with stakeholders and find the human story behind an organisational change?
If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.
Why join Centacare? Work that has genuine purpose You'll be part of an organisation whose work makes a real difference to children, families and people across our communities. The communications you create will help the people delivering those services navigate change with greater confidence.
An opportunity to make your mark This is a newly created role within our Transformation Team, giving you the opportunity to contribute your ideas, shape communication approaches and help establish effective ways of engaging our people through change.
Interesting and varied projects From introducing new platforms to improving organisational processes, you'll work on a range of transformation initiatives with different teams, stakeholders and communication challenges.
Work with people across the organisation You'll collaborate with project managers, executives, operational leaders and frontline teams, building relationships and gaining a broad understanding of how our organisation works.
Hybrid working arrangements We recognise the value of both collaboration and flexibility, with hybrid working arrangements available for this role.
Does this sound like your kind of opportunity? If you're someone who enjoys making complex things simple, believes good communication can make a real difference and would love to contribute to meaningful organisational change, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
You don't need to be the loudest person in the room or have an impressive collection of corporate buzzwords.
We're much more interested in your ability to listen, understand, write beautifully and connect with people.
