Centacare is seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Power BI & SQL to lead the design, development and optimisation of our business intelligence and reporting solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior BI professional who enjoys solving complex data challenges, partnering with stakeholders, and delivering high-quality reporting that supports strategic and operational decision-making.
About the Role
As our Power BI & SQL Subject Matter Expert, you'll be the technical lead for business intelligence across the organisation. You'll design and build scalable Power BI solutions, develop and optimise SQL queries and data models, and champion best practice in reporting, governance and analytics.
Working closely with business leaders and technical teams, you'll translate business requirements into insightful dashboards and reporting solutions that enable informed, data-driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Design, develop and maintain engaging Power BI dashboards, reports and executive scorecards.
- Build reusable datasets, semantic models and interactive visualisations.
- Develop, optimise and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures and database views.
- Design logical and physical data models, including star and snowflake schemas.
- Perform data extraction, transformation and validation to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Lead workshops and present analytical insights to business leaders.
- Establish and promote Power BI development standards, governance and reporting best practices.
- Provide Level 2/3 support for BI solutions and identify opportunities to improve automation and reporting efficiency.
- Maintain technical documentation, reporting standards and user procedures.
- Keep abreast of emerging Microsoft technologies and industry best practice.
About You
You are a collaborative and technically capable Business Intelligence professional who enjoys working with stakeholders to solve business problems through data.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Expertise in enterprise Power BI reporting, dashboard development, data modelling, and ETL using Power Query (M).
- Advanced SQL development and database management across SQL Server, Azure SQL, and HCM/Payroll reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder engagement, and business partnering skills, delivering executive reporting and data-driven insights.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric, SSIS/SSRS, Agile delivery, and continuous improvement across enterprise BI environments.
