About the Role
As a Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will provide specialist behaviour support services to clients with complex needs. You will lead functional assessments, develop Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), and guide the implementation of strategies that reduce restrictive practices and enhance quality of life.
You’ll operate within a strong governance and compliance framework, ensuring all supports align with legislative requirements and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive functional and risk assessments to inform behaviour support strategies
- Develop and review Positive Behaviour Support Plans, including those involving restrictive practices
- Deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions tailored to individual client needs
- Provide expert advice and guidance to families, carers, and support teams
- Mentor and support developing practitioners within the team
- Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and best practice initiatives
What You’ll Bring - Relevant qualification in psychology, social work, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in behaviour support, including functional assessments and PBSP development
- Demonstrated experience delivering positive behaviour support services to children
- Strong knowledge of NDIS legislation, frameworks, and the Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework
- Experience working with restrictive practices and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to continuous learning, reflective practice, and professional development
