Yackandandah Health is proudly part of the Apollo Care Alliance, an innovative national organisation with a unique vision to support not-for-profit aged care communities located in beautiful North East Victoria, close to snow fields, wineries and waterways.  With over 100 employees, Yackandandah Health is the largest employer in the town.

We have developed a sustainable intergenerational site providing residential aged care, childcare, a medical centre, allied health services and apartment living.  We are innovative and forward thinking in our approach to the delivery of community services. 
  
Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for a Maintenance Officer on a part time basis (3 days per week) to join our wonderful team in Yackandandah.

The Maintenance Officer plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Under the direction of the Manager Building and Maintenance Services, you will be responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of our facilities and grounds to the highest standards. As a maintenance officer, you will become a part of our dedicated team at Tenterfield Care Centre and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.
  
Key Responsibilities:

• Garden Maintenance:
• Maintain the health and presentation of all plants and large green spaces, including watering, aerating, feeding, fertilising, soil preparation, planting, trimming trees and shrubs, pest and weed control, weeding, and mulch maintenance.
• Ensure lawns are mowed and edges are trimmed and maintained.
• Keep green spaces and walkways clear of debris and litter.
• Tool and Equipment Operation:
• Safe operation and regular use of tools and equipment such as powered leaf blowers, edgers, mowers, whipper snippers, spray equipment, and pressurised water cleaners.
• Monitor and report on the health of trees and plants.
• Dispose of green waste safely.
• Use hazardous chemicals safely and effectively.
• Maintain and preserve tools and equipment.
• General Maintenance Support:
• Assist with preventative maintenance tasks, equipment repairs, and ad-hoc maintenance as required.
• Support clinical staff with the installation and operation of medical equipment.
• Maintain up-to-date maintenance documentation and inventories.

• Physical capability to operate a range of tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Trade qualification or relevant experience is essential.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Availability to work on a regular on-call roster.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work cohesively with teams.
• Compassionate and caring approach towards the ageing community.
• Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards and continuous quality improvement.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and respect for others.
• Computer literacy for using email, internet, and in-house databases.
