Role Overview:

The Insurance Litigation Associate will be responsible for handling a range of insurance and reinsurance disputes, acting on behalf of policyholders across various industries. You will work on complex and often multi-jurisdictional matters, advising clients on coverage disputes, claims recovery, and policy interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of insurance and reinsurance disputes, acting for policyholders, with minimal supervision.
• Advise clients on coverage disputes, policy wordings, and claims strategies.
• Draft pleadings, witness statements, correspondence, and reports with a focus on clear and precise communication.
• Conduct and manage litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution processes, including settlement negotiations.
• Work collaboratively with partners and senior lawyers on large, high-value matters involving complex coverage issues.
• Liaise with experts, counsel, and other stakeholders as required.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring the delivery of commercially focused, client-centric advice.
• Support the development of junior associates and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 3-6 years’ PQE.
• Demonstrable experience in insurance and/or reinsurance litigation, with a preference for candidates experienced in policyholder representation.
• Strong understanding of insurance policy wordings, coverage disputes, and claims recovery processes.
• Experience in litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and advocacy skills with attention to detail.
• A strong commercial awareness and ability to provide practical, client-focused advice.
• Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively and work autonomously as well as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels.
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach to business development and team collaboration.
