The Opportunity As a Vessel Manager, you will work in collaboration with RVI Technical Superintendent, RVI Contract Delivery Manager, crew and external contractors to effectively service and maintain the RV Investigator in accordance with operational needs, including dry dockings. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to optimise business and asset performance and safely optimise the operations and commercial performance of the vessel to meet the ship management contract requirements of the vessel owner.
Reporting to the General Manager – Fleet Operations (Australia), this role can be based in Perth, Melbourne or Hobart.
Key Responsibilities - Overall ownership of all technical/operations matters for assigned fleet with the functional in collaboration with support service within the business HR/HSEQ/Procurement/Centre of excellence:
- Vessel operational management
- Project management
- Staff management
- Change management
- Proactively liaise with the Vessel Owner on technical, operational and crewing matters.
- Close collaboration with Contract Delivery Manager for commercial management and reporting obligations.
- HSEQ performance and compliance with Company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications and skills - Min. Chief officer CoC /Class 2 Engineering COC or equivalent tertiary education desirable.
Essential Experience - Relevant sailing experience or experience in a similar role
- Experience with Class, Port State and Australian Flag State regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to proactively and effectively manage relationships with complex clients
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Excel
- Exceptional planning and organisational skills
