YHA Brisbane City is a 380-bed property located in the heart of the city providing comfortable and affordable accommodation and experiences to groups and independent travellers from around the world. This modern property offers a range of private and co-living accommodation rooms as well as an onsite cafe, rooftop pool and bar, co-working space, and wellness centre. Our crew of approximately 50 passionate and hardworking team members pride themselves on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for guests and each other.

Are you ready to take the reins at the Brisbane YHA and help us become the number one property in the group? We’re on the lookout for an energetic and passionate Head Chef to lead create and inspire.
  
You’ll work hand-in-hand with our General Manager and Food & Beverage Supervisor, leading the charge in elevating our culinary offering across all outlets and catering operations. You’ll have the full support of the General Manager to bring creativity, innovation, and flair into this role, this is your opportunity to shape the kitchen into one of the best in the YHA network.
  
What you’ll be doing

• Lead and oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring consistency and excellence in every dish
• Drive menu innovation and development that reflects creativity, quality, and guest satisfaction
• Maintain accurate inventory management and stock rotation practices
• Follow established SOPs and recipe files with precision and professionalism
• Ensure the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation
• Manage your time and team efficiently to deliver outstanding service every time
• Foster a fun, motivated, and collaborative kitchen culture that thrives under your leadership
• Standard days will be Tuesday to Saturday but this may vary based on operational requirements  

  
What we’re looking for

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
• Supervisory training or relevant leadership experience
• Food Safety Supervisor certification from a Registered Training Provider
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a kitchen team
• Strong focus on workplace safety and compliance with Food Safety Plans
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Commercial acumen with a solid grasp of stock control, cost of goods, and budgeting
• A positive attitude and passion for delivering memorable guest experiences
