The Properties

Our YHA Cape Byron and YHA Byron Bay properties are more casual, fun spaces with, heated pools and great common areas where our guests get to gather and enjoy drinks, meals and BBQs. We offer great tours and events to our guests and offer surfboards and boogie boards for hire. Ideally located in the town centre, the properties are walking distance from the beach and cycling paths.

About the role

YHA Cape Byron (30 rooms) and Byron Bay (60rooms) are looking for a full-time Shift Manager to join the Management Team. Reporting to the Property Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the two properties.  Your main focus will include providing exceptional service to our guests, supervising team members, and offering primary support to our Assistant Manager and Property Manager.

What you’ll get to do

• Promoting a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the property and ensure that the property is representative of YHA values and mission
• Daily operations including check-ins/outs, groups movements, activities and events
• Constantly supporting the team to ensure we maintain high standards of hygiene and safety and providing hands on support to the team
• Preparing shift reports, rosters and communicating relevant information to the Property Manager and other team members.
• Acting as a point of contact in emergency situations, following established protocols and SOP’s

What are we looking for

• Experience as a Duty Manager, Shift Manager, Front of House Manager or similar
• First Aid & CPR Certification is beneficial
• Availability for rotating 7 day roster with most shifts 8.30am-4pm or 11am -7pm
• Proven leader with a passion for seeing your team succeed
