YHA Cairns Central is ideally situated in the bustling centre of Cairns, boasting 209 beds across 59 rooms, all set in a relaxed environment with expansive outdoor living areas and lush tropical flora. It's an excellent base for venturing into the extraordinary convergence of two World Heritage wonders: the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. This property invites our guests to immerse themselves in the reef's dazzling marine life through scuba diving or snorkelling, unveiling the breathtaking coral habitats. Meanwhile, Mission Beach provides a perpetual summer atmosphere in a tranquil coastal town, renowned for sightings of the rare cassowary.


About the role:

YHA Cairns Central is seeking an enthusiastic Receptionist/Housekeeper to enhance our team on a Part Time basis. The perfect candidate will dynamically support both the front desk and housekeeping teams, committed to delivering exceptional guest service and maintaining the property's immaculate condition, in line with the esteemed standards associated with YHA properties.

What you'll get to do:

Front desk: Provide excellent customer service to property guests and contribute to the property's friendly and cheerful atmosphere, answering guest queries and providing helpful local knowledge and recommendations, checking in and out guests and providing them with information that will assist in an enjoyable stay, resolving any guest concerns or disputes and escalating to relevant management when appropriate.

Housekeeping: duties include refreshing communal spaces, bathrooms and accommodation rooms, kitchens, monitoring and replenishing stock and ensuring our property remains sparkling clean.

What are we looking for:

• Previous experience in front desk reception, customer service and commercial cleaning in an accommodation setting
• Flexible availability 24/7 roster including night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Excellent communication skills verbal and written
• Full Australian working rights with no restrictions
