YHA Cairns Central is ideally situated in the bustling centre of Cairns, boasting 209 beds across 59 rooms, all set in a relaxed ambiance with expansive outdoor living areas and verdant tropical flora. About the role: YHA Cairns Central is actively looking for a part-time Overnight Guest Services team member. The role requires living onsite; after midnight, the team member must stay on the premises to manage any calls to the overnight phone and provide assistance in emergencies. An overnight on-call allowance is provided for nights when taking the night phone is required.
Day-to-day duties include:
Providing excellent customer service to property guests and contributing to the property's friendly and cheerful atmosphere.
Having possession of the night phone and ensuring that this number is clearly displayed in conspicuous and relevant areas within in the property.
Checking in late arriving guests and providing them with information that will assist in an enjoyable stay.
Ensuring property rules are adhered to overnight and harmony is maintained.
Handing over relevant information during shift changeovers.
Overseeing the security of the building, dealing with unauthorised persons on premises, and bringing any problem areas to the attention of management
Housekeeping/Cleaning:
Cleaning of communal facilities and public areas when required.
Conducting periodic deep cleans of property rooms, ensuites, and communal facilities.
Controlling laundry sent and received (for properties where a linen hire company is used).
Removing and sorting of recycling and rubbish from rooms, corridors, bathrooms and communal areas.
Laundry, folding and restocking of linen.
What are we looking for:
Availability to work overnight, including being on-call to attend to guest queries overnight.
Problem solving skills including the ability to work independently to solve problems in line with YHA policies and procedures.
Excellent customer service skills.
A valid First Aid/ CPR Certification
Attention to detail.
Commitment to safety and security.
Ability to commit to minimum of 3-hour shifts prior to overnight engagement.
