Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Toronto East, ON (On-site only)
Salary: $96,000–$105,000 (negotiable based on experience)

About the Company:
An established international manufacturer of specialized lifting equipment, headquartered in Toronto. Their systems are custom-built and installed across North America for construction, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

Role Summary:
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be part of a 27-person engineering team, responsible for designing custom lifting machinery. From interpreting customer specs and RFQs to producing and reviewing detailed mechanical drawings, you'll be involved in all phases of the project lifecycle. This hands-on design role requires strong CAD expertise, the ability to mentor junior staff, and occasional collaboration with sales and project managers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead custom mechanical designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Review and approve shop and production drawings
• Perform structural, dynamic, and mechanical calculations
• Integrate mechanical designs with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems
• Support proposal development with technical input
• Ensure designs align with project specs, timelines, and budgets
• Conduct hand calculations, apply GD&T, welding symbols, and tolerancing
• Occasionally travel across North America (must be able to do so without restriction)

• P.Eng. designation is mandatory
• 10–15+ years of experience in heavy machinery, construction equipment, or similar industries
• Expert in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and FEA (testing required at interview)
• Strong mechanical/hydraulic design background; basic familiarity with electrical controls
• Skilled in structural codes (AISC/CSA), welding standards (AWS/CSA), and mechanical system sizing
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills
• Must live within commuting distance of Toronto East
